Hockerton Housing Project
Hockerton Housing Project is a community of sustainable homes. It incorporates a business and a self-sufficient co-housing development. Our mission is to, by practical example, act as a catalyst for change towards ecologically sound and sustainable ways of living.
We run a not-for-profit co-operative which hosts tours and courses for all ages, and provides consultancy services to help others deliver sustainability in their home, community or workplace.
Our earth-sheltered sustainable homes are built with high thermal mass and high levels of insulation to eliminate the need for heating systems. Residents of the five houses generate their own clean energy to meet their remaining energy needs. We also grow most of their own food, harvest our own water and recycle waste materials.
We hope we can inspire to progress the move towards a more sustainable way of living.
